I consider Dublin like my second home, having spent so much time there filming My Big Day: Home or Away. My home away from home is The Wilder Townhouse, a resident’s only boutique hotel, located in walking distance from all of my favourite places. Service is impeccable, I love the Suites, and they serve the best breakfast in Dublin!
The first thing I do when I arrive in Dublin is head to MINK in Ballsbridge for a Mani & Pedi. Advance booking is a must and be sure to add a hand paraffin treatment – you’ll thank me for it.
I then take my new hands and feet across the street to Avoca Food Market for a salad and to stock up on snacks for time in Dublin.
I always have to make time for some shopping, heading over to my very favourite menswear boutique, Louis Copeland on Wicklow Street. I know all the staff by name, which may be a sign that I’m a little obsessed with their amazing brands. Of course, I can’t go there without a browse at Brown Thomas just down the street. My two favourite boutiques for Irish cashmere and textiles are Madigan’s and Stable of Ireland both located in the Westbury Mall.
My favourite place for a light lunch and catch up with good friends has to be the Garden Terrace at The Merrion. I could spend an entire afternoon there sipping rosé – well, maybe I have!
Evenings out start with cocktails at The Sidecar, a fantastic bar in The Westbury hotel. Be warned, you may find their 35 page cocktail menu a little overwhelming. Next it’s on to my favourite restaurant, Uno Mas. I’ve probably had every item on the menu, which is quite easy to do when ordering sharing plates. The Padron peppers are a must, and I seem to recall eating the most delicious carrots ever on one of my many visits.
Whether you’re planning your first visit to Dublin, or if like me you’re a regular, I hope you’ll experience a few of my must-visit places and let me know what you think.
